CEO and the queen

Keynes Disability Association (KDA) is a well established organization, at the helm of the Organization there is the Board of Directors that is composed of the founder, Directors and other people with disability and parents/ caretakers from various parts of Uganda.

The Board of Directors supervises the Secretariat which is based at the KDA office headed by the Chief Executive Director and currently employs support staff to manage the secretariat and implement activities.

Our Story

The Founder of KDA was born normal and grew up very well up to the age of 13 years when he got in an accident. After a period of 3 months, he started to experience difficulties within his body. He stopped walking, standing, sitting, holding a cup of tea became a problem and even got speech difficulties. He became disabled.  He dropped out of school, even lost hope in life and all his dreams got shattered. His mother tried traditional medicines, but no impact was seen. It was through courage that he opted to go back to school and study despite that condition. He passed his high school exams, and the government gave him a scholarship at Kyambogo University.

The three years that he spent at the University made him understand that he had a disability called Cerebral Palsy and through the interventions like guidance and counselling, physiotherapy and medication he has gone through, his life has totally improved, and his dreams and hope came back to life. As for today my dream is to be an inspirational and motivational speaker through my story.

He is a disability activist that campaigns for the rights of people with disabilities and also fight against the discrimination and injustices persons with disabilities go through in Uganda especially those with marginalized disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, autism and learning disabilities.

After graduating at the University with a Bachelor’s degree of Adult and community Education, he got employed at National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda as a Program Coordinator for the Cerebral Palsy project with the aim of mobilizing, sensitizing and advocating for rights of youth with cerebral Palsy in Uganda. he managed to mobilize over 500 people with cerebral Palsy, trained them in life skills and independent living, built their capacities to advocate for their human rights and sensitized parents and caregivers on the unique issues of people with disabilities.
